Pink Eye Drops

Pink Eye – is actually a more common name for Conjunctivitis. There are 3 types of Pink Eye, but all have very similar symptoms:

  • Acute allergic conjunctivitis – is usually very itchy.
  • Viral conjunctivitis – is usually caused by a cold or flu, and symptoms include watering eyes.
  • Bacterial conjunctivitis – produces the feeling that the eye has grit/sand in the eye (or that something may be in the eye). It can also make the eyes lids feel “stuck” together, or hard to open. You may have a yellowish discharge.

Pink eye drops are antibacterial created specifically to deal with Conjunctivitis. The active ingredient may vary, but all are typically designed to clear the symptoms within 5 days if you follow the course correctly.

Pink eye drops are available without prescription in some countries, but if you have severe symptoms, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist who will be able to give you stronger drops.

Please note: If you believe you are suffering from Conjunctivitis, but are also suffering from cold/flu, it may be worth waiting to see if your pink eye is related. There are no drops available for Viral conjunctivitis.

If after your cold/flu clears you still have pink eye, then you may have one of the other conjunctivitis and require treatment.
